The go-to location for diving in the Netherlands
The province of Zeeland is the go-to location for diving in the Netherlands, or even the Benelux. Visitors from neighbouring countries as well as tourists from other areas frequently travel to the area for scuba diving activities. Especially the island of Schouwen-Duiveland is a true diving hotspot.
Situated between Lake Grevelingen and the Oosterschelde estuary, Schouwen-Duiveland is home to some of the best and well-known dive sites in the region, and other dive waters – such as the Veerse Meer and the Westerschelde – are only a short drive away.
Our preferred location is the Grevelingen. In this saltwater lake (Europe’s biggest!) there are hardly ever any currents due to the absence of tidal water movements. At the same time, marine life is abundant and very comparable to life in the North Sea and the Oosterschelde. This means easy diving, often good visibility and great encounters. You’ll find cool animals here: from European sea lobster to nudibranch, and from eel to bobtail squid.
The Grevelingen is a perfect location for introductions into scuba diving, beginner and advanced training dives, as well as refresher courses. For the more experienced diver, the tidal waters of the Oosterschelde offer exciting conditions, but sometimes reduced visibility, in addition to even a bigger variety of marine species.
